4+ is the entry point into Reception class at selective schools. Children may still only be 3 years old at the point of assessment, so preparation should be a sensitive and nurturing process. It is recommended that your child attends an initial assessment, which is play-based and at which their aptitudes and next steps may be assessed. Parents will receive a full written report following the assessment and have a opportunity to discuss how they can help prepare their child. If appropriate, parents may decide to take advantage of face to face tutoring in the child's own home.
7+ is the entry point into Year 3 at selective schools. The composition of the entrance exam varies from school to school but may include a creative writing task, comprehension, maths and verbal and non-verbal reasoning, as well as an interview. This is a fairly rigorous process for young children and their expectations and workload should be carefully managed during the preparation. It is recommended that your child attends an initial assessment where their knowledge and skills can be assessed and any areas requiring support can be identified. Parents will have an opportunity for feedback and discussion following the assessment, as well as advice on suitable schools. If appropriate, parents may decide to take advantage of tutoring which may take place online or at the child's home.
Do you feel that your child may need a little extra support in order to make the transition into Reception? Or perhaps they have already arrived in Reception and are finding the new demands challenging? During the Early Years children acquire the knowledge and skills that form the building blocks for their future learning. Support at an early age can help your child to overcome any initial difficulties and encourage a love of learning that will stand them in good stead for the future. Ad hoc or regular face to face tuition may be appropriate which would take place at the child's home.
Wendy is fabulous. She approaches the sessions in a fun but productive way. Wendy can pick up on strengths and weaknesses of the individual child therefore tailoring each session accordingly.
My child was ready in just a couple of months with Wendy, to confidently gain a place into the only school he applied for. There was no stress and he felt excited and confident when it came to the assessments.
We did not have to adjust our lives to accommodate 7 plus with the help, support and guidance of Wendy. Her sessions were planned, punctual and productive. As parents, we did not feel at all lost in the process. I would highly recommend her to anyone, not just to help prepare their child for 4 and 7 plus assessments, but also to consolidate and extend their learning.

My son was struggling a little towards the end of reception, especially with phonics and reading and we were keen to find him some one to one support. He loved Wendy from the first moment he met her and really enjoys the weekly sessions he has with her. She has years of experience working with children and this is very apparent by her calm, patient, adaptable and engaging manner. Wendy teaches through games and varied fun activities and tailors help to my son's specific needs. Her feedback is excellent and she spends time discussing his strengths and areas for improvement, detailing what she is working on and steps forward. I can really see his confidence and ability growing. I would definitely recommend her.
